How to Bet at a Poker Table
Poker is quick to play with only one easy decision to make based on the luck of your cards.
If you believe your hand (the cards you?re issued) is better (higher-ranked) than the dealer?s, then risk more and increase your bet (raise). If not, fold and lose your initial (ante) bet.
Poker Ante Bet
Each player will have to place an ante bet (an equal amount of Poker chips or fun money) in the ante box to participate in the game.
Poker Dealing
The dealer shuffles one pack of 52 cards and issues each player 5 cards face down.
The dealer also gets 5 cards but the 5th card is dealt face up.
Poker Fold or Raise
Players look at their cards and must decide whether they should continue
To Raise, the player must place exactly twice their original bet on the raise box and should be done if the player believes they have a better hand than the dealers.
To Fold, the player places his cards face down on the raise box and should be done if the player does not believe they have a better hand than the dealers. The ante bet is then lost.
Poker Showdown
Once all players? decisions have been made, the dealer turns over their other four cards and will arrange them to indicate the best dealer hand.
Poker Payouts
If the dealer?s hand does not have at least an Ace and King, then the dealer?s hand is deemed to have folded and all players who made a raise bet are paid even money (i.e., the same amount as the player?s bet) on their ante bet ONLY.
If the dealer?s hand contains an Ace and King or higher, then the dealer?s hand is deemed to have played and the dealer?s hand is compared with each player?s hand.
If the dealer?s hand is better than the player?s, then both bets (ante and raise) are lost.
If the player?s hand is better than the dealer?s, then the ante bet is paid evens and the raise bet is paid according to the following rates:
